Gredos ibex Well, after a long flight from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, it did one’s heart good to see Val standing at the incoming gate to meet me. The warm smile and firm handshake certainly went a long way in assuring one they were in good company. This was my second hunt with Val and if it was going to be anywhere as good as the first one, I certainly was in for a top-notch hunt. Previously, I had hunted Beceites Ibex and Pyrenean Chamois and had been more than pleased with the great service I had received. So, after a short renewing of our friendship we were off to the town of Madrigal de la Vera, located north-west of Madrid. I am always pleasantly surprised at the great condition of the highways and roads, which I have driven over, in Spain. Soon we arrived and were settled into accommodations. This time was no different than my previous visit, the lodge was rustic, with so much personality of its own. The room was extremely spacious with all the necessary amenities. On this trip I had forgotten my “international electrical wall plug” but Val had a cellphone charger in his vehicle, so his preparation once again came to the rescue – smile. Next morning, we were up early, ate a super breakfast at a local restaurant (right across from our accommodations), selected for their excellent food and their opening early to accommodate us. Soon we were climbing in elevation, heading up to meet with the Game Keeper who would look after finding the Gredos Ibex for us. We stopped on the way for me to shoot the rental rifle, to ensure it was accurate for my eyes. Val supplied an excellent firearm for me and it was the same one I had used successfully on my last hunt with him. A beautiful Sauer 101 topped with a Leupold scope, in 7X64 Brenneke and 140 grain Nosler AccuBond bullets. Soon we came to the Game Keeper’s house and he was awaiting us outside. He and Val were old friends and had hunted together over the years, but still had some “catching up” to get done, like most hunters do. Soon we had transferred our gear into his vehicle and we were on our way up the mountain. What a spectacular sight I was privileged to witness. Val had previously warned me that the fog could and most likely would interfere with our hunt this time of the year. The Gamekeeper has two other Game Keepers up where we were headed to scout for Ibex. These men were experts at their chosen profession and soon had located Ibex. Val, one of the most patient people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, was beside me all the time, providing advice and support constantly. Soon we has my Gredos Ibex on the ground and when the Game keepers took over, it was evident they were certainly good at their overall job. In summary, I have hunted world-wide over my lifetime, but Val is in a class of his own. Being a dedicated hunter himself, he certainly understands what a hunter needs in order to be successful and he provides all of that at an extremely high level. Accommodations and food were second to none, as were the vehicles and rifle used on this hunt. One of the extremely important aspects of this hunt, was I never felt pressured to take an animal and it was apparent this was my hunt and Val was there to provide any support he could in order to make it “my” hunt. I have already re-booked for next year for my Ronda and Southeastern Ibex. Great hunt with a great professional at all levels. I would be remiss if I were not to mention the excellent support I also received from Val’s staff who work so hard “behind the scenes” to make all the hunts such a success.
Ronda and Beceite ibex
Ronda Ibex – Beceite ibex Ronda Ibex and Beceite ibex hunt Of all the places to hunt in the world, it’s hard to surpass Spain for its tremendous game, culture, history and stunning landscapes. And of all the people with whom you can hunt in this glorious country, none surpass Ibex Hunt Spain. –Chris Dorsey, Host/Executive Producer, Sporting Classics TV
Beceite ibex and Iberian Red Deer
Beceite ibex and Iberian red deer Beceite ibex and Iberian Red deer “My wife, and I hunted with Val for Iberian Stag and Beciete Ibex in December 2021/January 2022. We purchased the trip via the Dallas Safari Club show. Val guided us through the licensing process before the trip. Travel to Spain was a breeze. Before we met Val, we stayed a day and a night in Madrid – a beautiful city. We then took the train to Valencia, another easy process, where Val picked us up at the train station and we drove into the Castellon region for the Ibex hunt. What a beautiful part of the country – stunning landscape, ancient villages perched in the mountains – we saw things that there’s no way a ‘typical’ tourist would have a chance to see. The people of Spain are delightful. They are respectful, kind, and good-natured. We did not have a single negative experience with the people during our entire 10-day trip. After a couple of action-packed days hunting Ibex, we were successful. There we many animals to choose from…but make no mistake…this is “hunting”, not “shooting”, in some very challenging terrain. The Ibex was taken with Val’s rifle at a little over 300 yards – my longest shot on an animal. It was nice to be able to use Val’s rifle rather than travelling with our own. With the Ibex tag filled, we went to another region of the country where we had an equally fun time harvesting a beautiful red stag. The accommodations arranged by Val were very nice and our hosts were gracious and friendly. Lori and I extended our stay in Spain to travel to Barcelona and then back to Madrid. We didn’t rent a car, we primarily travelled by train and taxi, and walked a lot. The Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona is the most beautiful building we have ever been in – go see it! The parks and museums in Madrid are amazing. The food and wine in Spain is exceptional…and a great value compared to at home in Texas. Overall, we had a great experience and highly recommend Val and Inex Hunt Spain. If you have questions, you are welcome to get our email address from Val and we’ll be glad to try to answer them for you. Happy hunting!
Beceite ibex
Beceite ibex hunt Beceite Ibex Hunt with Valeriano Belles I just returned to the US from a fantastic trip in Spain. When I am searching for an outfitter there are a few things that I look for. An area that has an abundance of game an produces trophy animals. An outfitter that has strong knowledge of the area and is willing to go to great lengths to help me harvest my animal. Ibex Hunt Spain excels at all of these. Hunting with Valeriano Belles is an experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for an absolute great time hunting Trophy Ibex. I would like to thank Val and Carlos ( the game keeper) for a hunt that I will remember for the rest of my life. Hope next we can hunt together for trophy Gredos Ibex. Best Regards:
Beceite Ibex and Mouflon
Beceite Ibex – Iberian Mouflon Beceite Ibex – Iberian Mouflon I just wanted to thank you again for a fantastic hunt and leave a review for you. In early 2020 I was the winning bidder on a combination Beceite Ibex & Iberian Mouflon sheep hunt with Valeriano Belles of Ibex Hunt Spain. Unfortunately, due to covid, the hunt was postponed from December of 2020 to 2021, but Val worked very hard with the Spanish government to ensure that tag would be good for the following year. Finally in December of 2021 I was able to go on my hunt and Val did not disappoint. In the final hour of the first day I connected with a beautiful 8 year old gold medal class Mouflon. For the next day and a half we battled some inclement weather ranging from 30+ mph winds to blowing snow and rain. However late in the afternoon on day three, after passing on numerous gold medal Ibex (because my permit was for a bronze medal class) we found an Ibex that looked promising. We stalked to within 250 yards and Val confirmed he’s the one. With one well placed shot, my lifelong dream of an Ibex had come true. I had a beautiful 10-year-old Bronze medal Beceite Ibex in my hands. Not only is Val and the game keepers he hunts with great guides, he is a wealth of knowledge, I got a daily history lesson as well. Val was born and raised in this territory, he told me stories of how his mom and dad met to the history of all the conflict that happened in these mountains hundreds and even thousands of years ago. I would highly recommend hunting with Valeriano and Ibex Hunt Spain. Already started planning my Gredos Ibex hunt in 2024.
Hunting Around the world
Marco Polo and Ibex hunt Valeriano I’m currently in Argentina hunting and have just taken what animals I needed to achieve THE WORLD HUNTING AWARD, Diamond Ring with SCI. In fact I have the Capra 20 World Slam. I have worked toward these Milestones the past 20 years and have achieved the ultimate award from both hunting organizations. You have been responsible for my achievement more than any other outfitter I have hunted with. I want to Thank You for all the hunts you have guided me on and for all the patience you have shown. Without you I would have never have accomplished this challenge. You are more than just an outfitter to me, you are a good friend. I respect your knowledge and determination you have shown in making my hunts a success. Thank you my friend. I do not believe we are done yet. I believe we still have a few more hunts within us together. Hope all is good for you and with Covid behind us hope you are booking and going on many hunts. You deserve nothing less than the best! Alpine Ibex hunting in Switzerland by E.Wietfeld
Alpine Ibex Hunt in Switzerland My wife and I recently returned from a Fantastic trip organized by Valeriano Belles and Ibex Hunt Spain/ Grand Slam Ibex. Alpine Ibex Hunt I had talked with Val a few years ago about the interest in Alpine Ibex, a species that inhabits the Alps, and a species that I had thought about hunting for years. When he told me that he could outfit a hunt in Switzerland for them, my wife and I decided it was time to go! This would be our third trip with Valeriano, and my 4th species hunted with him. We ironed out the details while attending SCI Convention, and Val did the rest. The organization of the entire trip was handled excellently! From obtaining the hunting permit to Hotels and local transportation, Valeriano made it very easy to just relax. We stayed in a little village named, Orsieres. The Hotel was amazing as well as the food. While I was hunting, my wife was very comfortable at the Hotel and touring the local shops in the village. The local culture was awesome and we did stay in the village a few days extra to vacation. The Ibex hunting was amazing, and I saw more than 30 male Ibex the first morning. We looked at several Ibex and a decision was made to take an old 12 year old Billy. I borrowed the rifle, a Merkel 7 x 65, and it was topped with a Swarovski scope and was sighted in perfectly. I made a clean shot at less than 100 meters and the hunt was finished early. I am so happy with the quality of the hunt, organization, accommodations, food, equipment and guides, outfitters and interpreter. This hunt went without a hitch and I can’t say enough about Valeriano and his operation. I would absolutely recommend this hunt/adventure to anyone! I can’t wait till our next adventure!
